Pesaro is a fascinating coastal city in Italy that offers a blend of history, culture and natural beauty. From its historic sites to its scenic beaches, there is much to explore.

SAN LEO

In the Marecchia Valley, about 70 km from Pesaro on a huge rocky outcrop, reached by a single road cut into the rock, stands San Leo. On the highest point of the rocky spur stands the Rocca, an impregnable fortress that was enlarged and around 1600 adapted as a prison with such illustrious convicts as the Count of Cagliostro and Felice Orsini. The panorama from San Leo is one of the most beautiful and characteristic in the region: the view sweeps over the surrounding mountains and along the Marecchia valley to the sea.

FRASASSI

The Frasassi caves located within the Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi Regional Natural Park, 100 km from Pesaro in the province of Ancona, represent with its 30 km extension one of the most grandiose and fascinating underground routes in the world. They are underground karst caves whose discovery dates back to 1948. You can opt for a tourist itinerary, accessible to all, or experience the thrill of a caving tour.

Its Renaissance heart is the Ducal Palace, symbol of the city and now home to the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, which holds multiple masterpieces including paintings by Piero Della Francesca and Titian. Other points of interest include Raphael's House where the artist was born and where one can admire one of his early frescoes, as well as 15th-century rooms and furnishings, the neoclassical-style Duomo, the Palazzo dell'Università, the churches of San Domenico, San Francesco and San Sergio

SAN MARINO

The State of San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe and the oldest republic in the world. San Marino located on the flanks of Mount Titano 50 km from Pesaro has its own mint, its own stamps, a soccer team and an army. Not to be missed are the three stupendous fortifications connected by walkways to the citadel below enclosed by a triple circle of walls. Anywhere in the area, especially from the top of its mountain, you can enjoy a unique and unforgettable view, between the countryside of Emilia Romagna and the hills of Marche and Montefeltro, all the way to the Adriatic Sea.
